I'm A Bad Blogger

So I haven't posted in this blog in about 10 days, despite my multiple promises to post every day or so. Work's been a bitch and I'm lazy, so there.

It's been a nice weekend so far. Cloudless skies for the first weekend of spring is a good sign. Hoping it will extend into summer as well. I've been very spoiled since moving to Seattle with the weather. I've got a couple of friends from SoCal visiting also so it's great to show off how awesome my new hometown is to old friends.

Last weekend, Cole and I went back to the dog park (since our lives revolve around our Chihuahuas). We've been working on getting Jameson to be a "water dog" and it seems to be working now that we're on a lake and not the ocean. Apparently he doesn't like waves, unless they're only a few inches high. Here are some pictures of him fetching a stick from the water and climbing a tree.

This weekend we've been tourists, going to Pike's Place and the Bank of America building in downtown (highest point in Seattle). Spring in Seattle is really an amazing time. There are flowers EVERYWHERE and everything is green. I'll make sure to keep my camera close by to try to show you all, but I doubt a photo could do it justice.

Here's our view from the observation deck of the B of A building:

I'll make sure to recap the rest of the weekend with photos later!

The Luck O The Irish

Any day is a good day for a nice, stick-to-your-bones Irish meal... a la corned beef and cabbage. Yum!

Stop Talking and Not Saying Anything

It boggles my mind sometimes how much talking goes on without any communication. This is never more present than in the advertising industry, where most people call meeting after meeting after meeting just to hear themselves talk. Inefficiency is the new sexy in corporate America, it seems.

Stop focusing on cat-herding, and start FOCUSING. Don't have a meeting when you could substitute it with a phone call, and don't call when you could substitute email. Don't schedule for an hour something that should be done in 15 minutes. Don't call meeting to "talk." Call meetings to share. Never walk out of a meeting without a clear idea of next steps.

And if a "brainstorming meeting" is absolutely necessary, it should never happen more than once. We're not changing the world people. We're just trying to sell other people the shit our clients make. It's not rocket science.

Gorgeous Saturday

Today was PERFECT! I actually got *gasp* a slight sunburn on my nose/cheeks today. It was absolutely beautiful. Cole and I took the dogs to Magnuson Dog Park today so they could enjoy the weather and get their fill of exercise. We've been taking them there every weekend or so to try to keep them socialized and let them stretch their legs. We've been trying to get Jameson acclimated to the water (Lake Washington), since I firmly believe that Chihuahuas were meant to be water dogs (pshhh) and Cole actually had him playing fetch into the water today! I whipped out my camera to prove it actually happened, only to realize that I had left the battery charging in my bedroom. I guess the "water WaWa" will continue to remain a myth (at least until I can catch a snapshot next weekend)!

A Room With a View

Happy Friday! Cole and I tried to catch the sunset when I got home from work and JUST missed it, but still had a nice view! Hopefully we'll get some good shots of the sunset this weekend. Nothing but sun in the forecast!

Can you just BARELY see Mount Rainier in this one?

HOLY Hell of a Day

Just getting home from work! I have about 12 personal phone calls to return and am trying to avoid burning dinner while popping an update onto this bad boy. It's been absolutely insane at work! 12+ hour days each day this week!

Update on the house sitch: Landlord didn't say no! So depending on how things work out, I could have my own little 1700 square foot piece of Seattle!

Currently in the process of making Shrimp and Citrus Linguine (see photo).

Sounds good? Here's a link to the recipe.

(Giada de Laurentiis is a goddess!)

Hopefully I can get this on the table by the time Cole gets home from the gym. Poor guy, I think he forgets what it's like to have a girlfriend!
